The time is upon us. This is the week where thousands of men and women from all over the world travel to replenish their thirst by taking the yearly journey to their Mecca. A week long sabbatical where many come for a much needed break from their normal lives. Of course what I speak of is the Fire Departments Instructors Conference.
FDIC is an Eden in the Fire Service community. A place to replenish your roots into a soil, rich with knowledge. There is no other time where you are able to meet with so many like minded individuals and tap into their experience, whether it is vast or just beginning.
If you have never taken this pilgrimage, prepare for a learning experience like no other. Absorb all that you can in your HOT classes and classroom sessions. Then, take notes and review them every night. Most importantly, take all your new found knowledge and share it with every member of your department. Now the circle will be complete.
Throughout the week, take every opportunity to meet new people. I would challenge you to meet 5 new fellow firefighters and make one of them from the international community. If you are attending I would love you meet all of you. Contact Me so we can share a beer and a story. See you at FDIC!!!!
